Dr Deborah Foskey, Associate

Dr Deb Foskey is a dedicated social reformer with a fervent belief in, and commitment to, a fairer and more equitable world. Through both her community and representative work she has made substantial contributions to the awareness and advancement of contemporary issues such as climate change, environmental protection, education, public housing and women’s rights.

During a diverse career in politics, research and education, Deb has worked to engage people and communities, especially those most isolated or disenfranchised, using a highly inclusive personal style that encourages the active input and development of ideas. Between 2004 and 2008, she capitalised on this approach as the sole Greens member of the ACT Legislative Assembly, bringing a highly informed global and local perspective to the political debate. Her willingness to challenge prevailing views, facilitate discussion, and argue cases with passion and logic has resulted in a number of improved outcomes for ACT citizens and set the scene for the election of an unprecedented four Greens elected to the Assembly at the 2008 election.

Samara McIlroy, Managing Partner

Samara McIlroy is an Information Management professional and contemporary visual artist with over 15 years experience working and volunteering for government and community organisations. Over the years, she has seen many failed software implementations because user needs and change management were not adequately addressed. Samara believes that herenow collective is unique in the services it provides.

Samara has worked on database design, software implementations, setting up small archives and digitisation projects. Most recently she has been involved in advocacy work for local government archives and acting as an internal consultant on all things information management.

Samara works in many forms of visual media. Her work is currently object-based, but she also paints, draws, takes photographs and makes movies. Although she is also old enough to remember working and studying without a computer screen on her desk, Samara is really excited about the application potential of social media and Web 2.0 applications both for the workplace and for her artwork. A regular blogger, Samara was responsible for the content and design of this website.
